Why choose the University of Plovdiv

The University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski” is a leading cultural, educational and scientific institution in the Republic of Bulgaria. It is the largest higher university in Southern Bulgaria and the second largest in the country after the University of Sofia “St. Constantine and Helen” – Clement Ohridski”. It was founded in 1961 as the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. It was declared a University in 1972. Today the University of Plovdiv “P.HILENDARSKY ” fully justifies and defends its name of the University, teaching students in more than 260 specialties in natural, humanities, social and economic sciences.

P.HILENDARSKI University employs over 910 teachers and employees, including 620 highly qualified teachers – 85 professors, 210 associate professors, 325 assistants. More than 13,000 full-time students and about 5,300 registered students are trained in 9 faculties and 2 disciplines that meet all the requirements of the Higher Education Act.

The University of Plovdiv has a library, a university publishing house, a university information centre, specialised laboratories, language offices, multimedia and computer rooms, a Distance Learning Centre, a Vocational Guidance Centre, a Research Unit, a Sports Centre, an Educational Theatre, Technical Centres, Service Centres and Service Units.

The University maintains active international contacts with almost all European countries, the United States and the countries of Asia and Africa. It participates alone or jointly with other European universities in European Union programmes and in American and Swiss research departments. The academic community also develops relations with higher education institutions from Europe, Russia and the Middle East. The University has official accreditation, which allows it to conduct training in all educational degrees – “Specialist”, “Bachelor”, “Master” and “doctor”.

AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY OF PLOVDIV

Since its foundation in 1945, the Agricultural University – Plovdiv has been disseminating knowledge, preserving and enriching the traditions of Bulgarian agriculture. It was established as a national centre of agricultural science and education in Bulgaria.

The graduates of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv are more than 30,000 agronomists, engineers, ecologists, economists, of which more than 3000 are foreign citizens.
